On #MemorialDay2019, offices will be closed across the United States to honor all fallen American servicemen and women who risked their lives in the line of duty.
For some of us, it is a time to visit national cemeteries to remember deceased family members who served in the @USArmy, @USMC, @USNavy, @usairforce and @USCG and decorate their graves with small flags, flowers and wreathes. Others will take part in municipal ceremonies and parades where elected officials and representatives from local #veterans groups are recognized.
Another Memorial Day tradition is raising the U.S. flag quickly to the tops of flagpoles, slowly lowering it to half-mast, then raise it again to full height at noon. Lowering the flag to half-mast is meant to honor fallen service members who have died for their country over the years. While re-raising the flag is meant to symbolize the resolve of the living to carry on the fight for #freedom so the nation’s heroes will not have died in vain.
At SourceCast, we commemorate the men and women who died while serving the United States in the #military. When you hear “Taps” being played on Memorial Day, let’s remember the cost our fallen heroes and their families, and all who serve have made on our lives.
